This 2012 Wharton Wines Proprietary Red Wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot with a touch of Petit Sirah. The wine's stunning intensity begins with its inky hue. Aromas of super ripe cassis, blueberry, blackberry and fig are under- scored by worn leather, anise and shiso mint. On the palate, the entry is rich and viscous, leading to plush, dusty tannins and fetching flavors of dark, ripe berries, figs and chocolate. Warm baking spice balances minerality on the finish, inviting taste after taste of this exceptionally compelling blend. Enjoy!

No growing season is easy, but 2012 presented few challenges. A mild spring led to a good fruit set. Summer and fall brought warm temperatures, but no heat waves. All the fruit enjoyed a long, slow ripening. Bordeaux varietals are dark, rich and ageworthy, inviting comparisons with 2001, 2002 and 2007.
